BufferedTV Studio puts everything a PeerTube creator does in one app. Upload from your phone and have it write the subtitles, answer comments, and see how each video is doing, on whichever instance your channel lives.

Features

Everything you’d otherwise need the website for.

Uploading Caminandes 2: Gran Dillama, with Write subtitles on this iPhone turned on, the spoken language set to English (United Kingdom), and translations into French and Spanish.

Subtitles, written on your device

As a video uploads, Studio can listen to it on the iPhone, iPad or Mac itself, using Apple’s speech recognition, and add the subtitles to the video as soon as it’s up. Do the same for any video you’ve already published.

Want them in other languages too? Pick as many as you like. Each is translated on the device, line by line, so every line stays in time with the video. The sound and the words go nowhere but your instance.

Audience retention for one video: a curve of how many people were still watching, moment by moment, with 63% average viewed, and the countries they watched from underneath.

See how every video is doing

Views, viewers, watch time, average watch and peak viewers for each video, over the last 7, 28 or 90 days or since it went up. The retention curve shows where people stop watching, and the audience breaks down by country, region, device, system and the browser or app they used.

Each channel gets the same, or add them all together: views over 30 days, 90 days, a year or its lifetime, followers, and your top videos.

The Comments inbox: the newest comments on every video, each with the video it’s on and a Reply button, and a tab of three comments held for review.

Every comment in one place

Comments on all your videos, newest first, each with the video it’s on. Reply, delete, or block someone, from the comment itself.

Set a video to hold its comments until you approve them, or let lists of watched words and PeerTube’s own automatic tags hold anything that matches. Held comments wait in their own tab, seen only by whoever wrote them.

Editing Spring: its thumbnail, visibility, title and description.

Your whole library, properly edited

Find any video with search and filters, then change its title, description, tags, thumbnail, category, licence and language. Make it public, unlisted, private or password protected, or choose the moment it goes public.

Add chapters and subtitle files, and where your instance allows it, replace the video file, or have the instance trim it, cut sections out, add an intro and outro or put a watermark on it.

Uploads that finish

From Photos or Files, several at once. An upload picks up where it stopped after a lost connection or a restart, and keeps going in the background on iPhone and iPad.

Live streams

Set up a one-off or permanent stream, with its latency and a schedule your followers can see, then copy the server address and stream key into your streaming app.

Channels and collaborators

Create channels, give each its own name, avatar, banner and description, and invite other people on your instance to help run them.

Playlists

Make playlists, add videos from your library and put them in order.

Imports

Bring in a video from a web address or a magnet link, or sync a channel from another site so its new videos keep arriving.

Several accounts

Sign in to as many accounts as you have, on one instance or several, with a two-factor code if you use one, and switch between them. An upload always goes to the account it started on.

Notifications

New comments, followers and everything else your instance tells you about, with the same choices over what it sends as on its website.

No tracking

No analytics, adverts or third-party code, and no BufferedTV server for your data to go to. Studio talks to your instance. Read the privacy policy.

Storage at a glance

How much of your instance’s space you’ve used, today and in all, and what’s still processing or needs a look, right on the dashboard.

Questions

Good to know.

Which instances does it work with?

Any PeerTube instance where you have an account. Type its address and Studio checks it’s a PeerTube server before you sign in. Some tools are up to each instance, such as live streams, imports and its own editing tools; Settings ▸ Instance shows which ones yours has switched on.

Where are my subtitles written?

On your iPhone, iPad or Mac, with Apple’s on-device speech recognition and translation. The first time you use a language, the device downloads what it needs for it from Apple, once. After that, a video’s sound and its subtitles go nowhere but your instance. If a device can’t transcribe speech, Studio doesn’t offer to, and if your instance writes subtitles itself, you can ask it to instead.

Can I look after more than one channel?

Yes. An account can have several channels, and Studio shows them one at a time or all together. Sign in to more accounts, on the same instance or others, and switch between them from the account menu.

Is this the same app as BufferedTV?

No. BufferedTV is for watching PeerTube on Apple TV, iPhone and iPad. BufferedTV Studio is for the people who make the videos. The two share a look and some of their code, and each works without the other.

What do I need to run it?

An iPhone or iPad with iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 or later, or a Mac with macOS 27 or later, and an account on a PeerTube instance.

Is BufferedTV Studio made by PeerTube?

No. It’s an independent app, built by Ric Harvey and supported by SquareCows. PeerTube itself is made by Framasoft, a French non-profit.

Help and support
